Sudoku Mania Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Sudoku Mania ("the app") is a Sudoku game for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
Data stored on your device
The app saves the following on your device only:
- your current game and best times;
- your daily challenge streak and the last day you solved it;
- your settings (theme, board colors, sound, haptics and similar choices);
- whether you have seen the tutorial;
- whether you own the "Remove ads" purchase, so ads stay off when you are offline.
If you use iCloud Backup, Apple may include this data in your device backup under your own iCloud settings. We cannot access it.
Camera
If you choose to scan a puzzle, the app asks for permission to use the camera. The picture is used only to read the digits of a Sudoku puzzle. The reading is done on your device using Apple's VisionKit document scanner and Vision text recognition, and the picture is not saved by the app or uploaded by us.
Sharing
If you tap "Share current puzzle", the app creates a text code and opens the iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent unless you pick an app and send it.
Advertising
The free version shows ads: a banner on the game screen, an occasional full-screen ad between puzzles, and optional rewarded videos you can watch for an extra hint. These ads are served by Google AdMob.
AdMob may collect and use your device's IP address and general device and usage information to show and measure ads. Because the app does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, it cannot read your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). Where the law requires it (for example the EEA, UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks for your choice first, and you can change it later in Settings > Privacy and ad choices. We do not receive the information AdMob collects.
Purchases
The optional "Remove ads" purchase removes all ads and is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether you own the purchase.
Notifications
After the tutorial, the app asks whether it may send notifications using the iOS permission prompt. Nothing is set up until you say yes. If you do, the app registers with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging, which creates a push token and uses Firebase's app-instance identifier to deliver reminders such as the daily puzzle or your streak. To pick who gets which reminder, the app also shares a few coarse Analytics properties (a streak range such as "2-6", whether a game is unfinished, and whether notifications are on), but only where analytics is allowed as described below. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings > Notifications > Sudoku Mania; the push token is deleted the next time the app opens.
Analytics
To find and fix crashes and see which features are used, the app uses Google's Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. They stay off until both of the following are true:
- where the law requires it (for example the EEA, UK and Switzerland), you agreed in the consent form; and
- you have not switched off Settings > Share usage and crash data.
When they are on, the app sends crash reports (device model, iOS version, app version and the crash's stack trace) and a small set of anonymous events, such as finishing the daily puzzle. Firebase also records standard measurement data such as first open, sessions, approximate region from the IP address, and a random app-instance identifier that is not linked to your name or account. The app uses the Firebase setup without advertising ID support, so no advertising identifier is used, and we do not send puzzle contents, photos, names or contact details.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings, which also asks Firebase to clear the data held on your device. Data is processed by Google under Firebase's privacy terms and retained for a limited period set by Google (Analytics event data is kept for 2 months by default).
Third-party services
The app uses the following services:
- Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform (ads and consent)
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (usage measurement and crash reports, as described above)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications you opt in to, as described above)
- Apple StoreKit (the optional purchase) and Apple Push Notification service
- Apple VisionKit and Vision (scanning, processed on your device)
Google services may process data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Tracking
The app does not track you. It does not combine data about you from this app with data from other companies' apps or websites for advertising, and it does not share data with data brokers.
Children
The app is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed to children. It is intended for people aged 16 and over. It has no age question and does not currently receive an age signal from Apple, so analytics, crash reporting and notifications are not switched off by age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the higher age that applies in your country). If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will help.
Deleting your data
We hold no data about you on our side. To remove what the app stores on your device, delete the app. To stop analytics, turn off Settings > Share usage and crash data. To limit what advertisers use, change your choice in Settings > Privacy and ad choices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
